Principal’s Message
Mrs. Kristine LoCascio
Hello, O'Neill Families. I am thrilled to be back after my medical leave and so excited to end the year strong! I hope this letter finds you well as we finish off many exciting activities that took place during the month of March. We had several wonderful activities planned that engaged our students in learning, kindness, and school spirit.
Spelling Bee
We are thrilled to announce we held our 2nd Annual Spelling Bee, where students showcased their hard work and dedication to spelling excellence. This event not only celebrates academic achievement but also fosters confidence and perseverance. Congratulations to Kenneth Gaydon for his championship win.
P.S. I Love You Week
At O’Neill, we prioritize kindness, compassion, and emotional well-being. During P.S. I Love You Week, we focused on spreading positivity, kindness, and mental health awareness throughout our school community. Activities included themed spirit weeks, the domino effect challenges, and special messages of encouragement.
PARP Kickoff (Pick A Reading Partner)
We just wrapped up our Pick A Reading Partner (PARP) program! Reading is a gateway to knowledge, and we encourage families to participate by setting aside time to read together. The kickoff event introduced fun challenges and incentives to inspire a love for reading among our students. Our PARP theme centered around “March Madness” so we were entertained by Corey the Dribbler while families enjoyed our Black History Month Museum Walk where our students work was showcased. Building on our PARP initiative, we introduced March Madness as our theme. This friendly reading competition will challenge students to read as much as possible throughout the month. Classrooms will compete, and we’ll celebrate our top readers with a special Faculty vs. Student Game Day. Let’s make reading fun and engaging!
To round out the month, we enjoy a parent connect night at Mc Donalds. This was a time to forget homework and spend time with family and friends. (And a delicious BIG Mac) We closed out March with PIE a teacher in the face! As a 6th grade fundraiser, it had all the excitement we could ask for! We enjoyed your support and participation in these exciting events. Thank you for being such an integral part of our school community.
As we turn the corner to April, our focus shifts to preparing for the upcoming State Assessments. These exams are an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning progress. You can support your child by encouraging them to read each night. A strong vocabulary will not only help them succeed on these assessments but will also benefit them throughout their lives. We appreciate your continued partnership in fostering a love of learning and preparing our students for success.
