Musketeer Monday Form

Musketeer Monday Part Four: Angelina Libardi, 6th Grade Teacher, O'Neill Elementary School

Q: School / Grade / Subject(s) Taught / Area of Work
A: O'Neill / 6th Grade Teacher

Q: How many years of experience in education / teaching / current field do you have?
A: This is my second year teaching full time after graduating from college.

Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in education (or your current field)?
A: My inspiration comes from experiences and people who shaped me. My mom worked in a school, and I loved seeing the relationships she built with students. Later, my high school teacher, Ms. Dewey, made a huge impact—she believed in me, made learning exciting, and made every student feel valued. The way she supported us is the way I hope to support my students every day.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being part of this school/district community?
A: I enjoy the strong sense of unity, resilience, and pride in the Central Islip community. Our students are motivated, diverse, and full of potential. Building meaningful connections and helping them grow makes this an incredible place to teach.

Q: What do you consider the most rewarding part of your job?
A: The most rewarding part is developing sincere relationships with my students and seeing their curiosity grow. When they ask thoughtful questions, get excited about learning, or feel comfortable sharing with me, those moments make every day meaningful.

Q: What’s a memorable moment you’ve had with students or colleagues?
A: A highlight so far has been taking my students to the Central Park Zoo. Traveling together, navigating trains and the subway, and watching their excitement as they explored and learned made it a truly unforgettable experience.

Q: Please list a teacher or staff member that has made a positive impact on you in this district and explain why.
A: Mrs. Portillo has made a significant impact on me. She is always there with support, encouragement, and a good laugh when I need it. Her genuine care for her students and the community inspires me, and her support has made my transition into the district so much easier.

Q: What’s your favorite event or tradition in our schools?
A: Homecoming! I love seeing the school spirit build throughout the week and watching everyone come together. The parade is always a highlight, and the floats and banners remind me how creative and connected our community is.

Q: Where did you grow up / go to school?
A: I grew up in Rochester, New York, and attended SUNY Geneseo. I moved to Long Island to be closer to family, and Central Islip made the transition easy—I felt welcomed right away.

Q: Do you have a favorite book, movie, or TV show? Tell us about them!
A: My favorite book series is Harry Potter. I finished the books years ago, and I'm only now watching the movies for the first time. Seeing the story come to life on screen has been so much fun!

Q: Do you have a favorite quote or motto you live by?
A: “Be the reason someone smiles today.” It reminds me to approach each day with kindness and bring positivity into my classroom and community.

Q: What are some activities you do in your spare time outside of school?
A: I love spending time at the beach in the summer, going on long walks with my dog, hanging out with friends and family, and reading whenever I can.

Q: If you could have dinner with any historical figure or celebrity, who would it be?
A: Emma Watson!

Q: If you weren’t in education or the field you're in now, what career would you choose?
A: I would open my own bakery. I’ve always loved baking and decorating cakes, and sharing that joy with others would be a dream job.

Q: What’s one thing on your bucket list (travel, skill, experience)?
A: Hiking in the Grand Canyon to take in the incredible views and natural beauty up close.
