Senator Monica Martinez Continues PARP, Reads to First Grade Class
O'Neill Elementary School welcomed a special guest in its building on Friday.
New York State Senator Monica R. Martinez came to read to Mrs. Esposito and Mrs. Ryan's first grade class as part of PARP (Pick a Reading Partner).
She chose "Grace for President," written by Kelly DiPucchio that explains the electoral college and why every vote counts in an election.
Before she began to read, Senator Martinez fielded questions from the curious students about her career and how she became a senator.
Senator Martinez was joined by a familiar face from Central Islip schools—Reginald Holder, a 2024 graduate of Central Islip High School. He now serves as a community aide in her office while pursuing his undergraduate studies in music at NYU.
